Visualize Then Realize
What do you want?
Seriously, what do you really want out of life?
Is it a new car? Is it someone to love? Is it a new job? Is it more money? What is it? Can you even admit what it is? Regardless, it doesnt matter if its frivolous or something crucially important, its good to know what you truly want. Because if you dont, how are you ever going to know when you get it?
Now that thats settled, let us look at the next question. Can you visualize the thing you want? Can you see in your minds eye the thing you desire? Are you so immersed in it that you can experience it before youre actually able to get it?
Being able to see what you want is kind of like being able to play a tune on an instrument. Regardless of your musical ability, if you can hum it, chances are that you can play it if you work at it a little. This is because the song is inside you. You know it. You recognize it and because of this, you know what notes you have to hit in order to reproduce it. You can hear when youre hitting a bad one and can adjust accordingly.
The same thing goes with the Law of Attraction which basically states that like attracts like. The gist is if you can see it, then you can believe in it, then you can attract it. And if you can believe in it, you can have it. Or be it, if this is this case. In other words, if you can visualize it, you can realize it. When you can actually see it, either in your minds eye or in real life, youre no longer wandering in the darkness hoping to accidentally grab onto something you might like. Youre not hoping that something good will find you. Youre actually making the effort to find it. To know it. Youre able to see your goal and go after it.
If you want to break it down step by step, heres what you do. First, you figure out what you want. Next, you visualize it and begin believing in it. Then you start making it happen. Yes, its really that simple. Sure, you may have a little trouble getting startedthis is what this book is aboutbut once you get a grasp on the concept, youll be on the path to achieving your goals. You just have to suspend disbelief and realize that you really can make your dreams come true.
But why is all this visualization is necessary? Its obvious why this is the case if you just take a look at the inverse. How can you get what you want if you cant see it? If you dont even know what it looks like, how are you going to know when you get it?
Its like this: If you want to be successful, you have to think like a successful person. Successful people not only know what they want, they are confident enough to be able to visualize it. They can visualize themselves having this thing they want. They can feel it. They can experience whatever it is they want before they have it. This gives them the ability to know that they can make it happen. It is closer to them than it is to unsuccessful people. It is just over the horizon. They know this because it is in sight, even if it is only in their minds. In other words, they can make their dreams into reality.
I know that sometimes its hard to figure out what you want. In fact, for many people, the idea of doing this is so elusive that they dont even know where to begin. Some of us are trained from birth to never really admit, even to ourselves, what we want to achieve from life. Were told that were selfish if we want big things. Were told that nothing good is ever going to happen to people who try too hard to succeed. Were told that we need to protect ourselves from disappointment. This is why its hard for us to really know what we want. This is why many of us deal in non-specifics. We say that we want a better job or more money without knowing what we want to do to actually achieve this. We just cant allow ourselves to take that first step to wanting more. However, even if you never admit it to yourself, the fact of the matter is that you do want more. Everyone does. But recognizing and accepting this fact is one of the biggest obstacles that separates unsuccessful people from successful people. Successful people can voice their desires and ambitions. They arent afraid to dream. Sure, they might occasionally fail in their attempts, but they usually keep trying because they know that if they keep trying, they will eventually succeed. They know that its important to take that first step of voicing their dreams.
Heres the thing: If you never make the first step of voicing your dreams, what good is it to dream in the first place?
Dont be afraid to think big. If your goal is a better job, imagine yourself doing it. Feel yourself doing it. Get in the mindset of doing it. If your goal is a new car, start seeing yourself in one. Smell that new car smell. Feel the power of driving it. Actually go car shopping to get the visuals. You can do this online, if you like. You just have to make the effort to visualize it.
All too often, we think that we dont deserve better. That we dont deserve our dreams. We look at our backgrounds or our families and see nothing but mediocrity and failure. Who are we to want better? Who are we to think that we can actually do something with our lives? Are we so much different from the other people that we are around? Doing better than our family can also make us feel guilty. Who are we to want to succeed when our families have it so bad? Just who do we think we are, anyway? Surely, we dont think were better than the people we grew up with?
It is wrong to think like this. This is why you have to visualize your dreams. This will make them more achievable and more real. Forget the past. Today is a new day. Suspend disbelief. Anything is possible if you believe it is possible. No one has ever achieved anything thinking that they would fail. You are no different. Sure, it might be difficult at first, but you are the first of your kind. You are the first and only incarnation of you. Forget your past. Move forward. The future hasnt happened yet. This is why anything is possible if you have the confidence to move forward.
I like to use the Victorians as an example. These people, our ancestors, were at the beginning of the Second Industrial Revolution. They knew the world was changing and they were at the forefront of progress. As a result, they knew that the world was their oyster and they wouldnt let anything stop them. They saw the old ways fading and the new ones coming on. This is why they were able to do big things. They could visualize their dreams and they would let nothing get in their way. The world was new and there was no precedent in people telling them they couldnt do things. They were in a new age and the sky was the limit. If you are in doubt as to their optimism, just look at the grand scale on which they thought. Look at the size of the factories they built. Look at the railroads. Look at their grand mansions. They wanted better and they werent afraid to make it happen. No one before them had ever thought this big. Sure, some of them may have been a little unscrupulous in how they achieved their dreams, but thats not the point. To them, the world was bursting with opportunity and new ways would have to prevail. This is the part that you have to take from them, not the ruthlessness of course, but the part on how they would stop at nothing to succeed and there was no reason why they couldnt. This is how you have to think. Its true; the sky really is the limit unless you tell yourself otherwise. There is no precedent. The only thing stopping you is yourself.
