The biggest change in our home is the absence of fear. When you try to control someone (be it your kids, your husband, or your colleagues) you need some kind of leverage in order to get the required results. I had the stare, the spoon, the voice, and a lot of frustration and anger. Throw those together, add a little power struggle, and youve not a nasty atmosphere with complete disconnect. When I realized that I was in agreement with the spirit of fear in order to get Christian results of compliance, I knew I had grabbed the wrong end of the stick. I dont need that rod anymore now that we have kids and parents who are in control of themselves.
