DEDICATION

For my girl

While you knelt for me and offered me your wrists to bind

You bound my heart with ropes that cannot be cut.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Wherever possible I have cited people whose ideas have contributed to this book, but in a lot of cases things have existed within the BDSM community for so long that they have become part of the furniture and its hard to identify the origins of a particular idea. I am grateful to both the online community of Fetlife, and the support I have been offered by my local community.

In writing this book Cheshire Chambers and Alexielle have been central in offering support, advice, corrections and contributions. Without their help this book would not have been possible. Alexielles work is particularly notable on the fetish checklist, which was a mammoth task, and thanks are due to Little-Kitty-Red for allowing us to use the extensive fetish list she had compiled.

While it isn't possible to list everyone who contributed idea to this book the following peoples contributions are particularly noteworthy:

ASecretSquirrel and Astralseth - expert corrections to my terrible spelling and grammar.

A.R.Boswell wrote the section on pet play, WizarDavid the section on Daddy/girl relationships, TerriSulliven - for writing on SecondLife, and Angelus for contributing ideas to the SecondLife article. _Kelly_ for allowing the inclusion of her thoughts on invisible collars.

Thanks are also due to Cheshire Chambers for modelling for the photos in the book, and for Little-Boy-Blue for his photography.

CONTENTS
1. INTRODUCTION

On the other side of the world, sitting behind a desk at work, thoughts tumble onto the computer terminal. With a press of a button these thoughts travel the vast networks that connect you to another computer the words flash up on a screen an email is read on a phone.

It continues to amaze me how we are able to connect with each other; that through this keyboard I can present thoughts, and in so doing these thoughts can become your thoughts. I can describe for you an object and you can visualize it you can send me a message telling me how you are feeling and I can empathise with you without ever having to meet you in person.

It is this love of the ability of thoughts to travel that has made me so fascinated with how effective BDSM relationships can take place while the participants are not physically in the same room or even the same country.

On the website Fetlife (a BDSM version of Facebook) a member posted the simple question, When you have tied someone up, what do you do with them next? This resulted in a lot of sarcastic replies, but in amongst them were a few attempts by people to talk a novice through the BDSM dynamic. This book is in part aimed at the person who might ask the question, I have an online sub, now what do I do with them? and is an attempt to provide a toolbox that can be used by those with more experience who would like some extra ideas. A lot of the ideas talked about in this book are applicable to anyone involved in a 24/7 BDSM relationship looking for suggestions of how to keep things happening when not physically in each others presence.

There is not a single way of doing BDSM, and there may be much that you disagree with in this book. The attempt is not to provide a blueprint for a single type of relationship, but rather to provoke thoughts about a wide range of subjects that impact such relationships in the hope that thinking through some of the options might enrich these experiences.

This book does not address what I call virtual-virtual fantasy, which is the type of interaction people often first think of in relation to Virtual Sex/BDSM; online conversations like:

Tina: I fall to my knees and suck your massive cock

Simon: I take hold of your hair and pull you deeper down on me

I use the term virtual-virtual as the communication is not face-to-face in the physical world, and is about something that isnt physically happening. The conversation is one in which people describe actions that are not happening as though they are happening.

By contrast the following scene c an be described as Virtual-Real:

Tina: I am on my knees thinking about sucking your cock

Simon: If I were there I would grab hold of your hair and pull you deep down onto me. Open your mouth wide for me.

Assuming that Tina is indeed on her knees, then both parties are describing things that are.

The difference between this and the previous conversation, although subtle, is a vital one. In discussing the virtual world and how to construct meaningful interactions, it is essential to start with honesty.

A middle ground can be found between virtual-virtual and virtual-real through Second Life, which is described briefly at the end of this book.

Layout

Small dialogue boxes appear throughout this book that show virtual conversations:

D: I will show how these conversations are laid out.

s: Thank you Sir.

D: Its my pleasure.

These dialogue boxes use D and bold text to indicate that the Dom is speaking, and s with italic text to indicate that the sub is speaking. Traditional in messages Dominants are assigned upper case letters (Him, He, Her, Hers, etc.) and subs are always talked about in lower case denoting a submissive position. These boxes are intended to be illustrative and not crib sheets from which to memorize dialogue for online encounters! The dialogues shown between D and s are real conversations, taken from chat logs a peek through the keyhole at the dialogue between a Dom and his sub.

2. BDSM and the LAW
Introduction

Understanding the position of the law in regard to BDSM in England is disheartening at best - particularly as there are differences between what could be prosecuted and what is generally prosecuted.

A crime does take place in the UK when one person assaults another one - whether or not both parties consent. In practice this means that any spanking taking place between two consenting adults could be prosecuted. A further offence might take place if this act is videoed or photographed (under a violation of section 63 of the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008 which prohibits extreme pornography), and yet another offence might occur through the distribution of said video/photographs.

Extreme pornography is defined as pornography that depicts:

(a) an act which threatens a persons life

(b) an act which results, or is likely to result, in a serious injury to a persons anus, breasts or genitals,

(c) an act which involves sexual interference with a human corpse, or

(d) a person performing an act of intercourse or oral sex with an animal (whether dead or alive).

The Spanner Case

In 1987 during a police investigation into an unrelated matter they discovered videotapes depicting consenting BDSM acts between a group of men over a period of 10 years. The Police operation was called Operation Spanner and it is by that name that this case is most commonly referred.

Despite none of the people concerned making a complaint, an investigation was launched and the men were prosecuted for crimes including assault, and wounding. Having been advised that they could not use the consent of the participants as a defence, they pleaded guilty and in 1990 a number of those involved were sentenced to jail.
