I didnt think you could make so many desserts in an air fryer! Yesterday I made buttermilk banana blueberry breadwow! The nutritional info is super helpful in deciding which recipe to make. OK, Fried Chickpeas are an amazing snack! So are just about any other recipe Ive made in my air fryer since getting this book. What is Air Frying?
Were all familiar with traditional fried foods. Chances are, some of your favorite foods are fried, but since you know theyre not the healthiest foods you could be eating, they come with guilt attached. Now you can enjoy delicious French fries, fried chicken, and so much more without the guilt or negative impacts to your health attached to normally fried foods. What Does an Air Fryer Do?
Air fryers fry foods without using so much oil by using a heating element on one end of the unit and a fan on the other. The fan circulates super-heated air around the food, cooking it from the outside in, and creating the same effect (called the Maillard reaction) that you achieve with traditionally fried foods. The difference is that instead of using a large amount of oil, air fryers use calorie-free air. Many recipes still call for a little oil, but its only a fraction of what you'd use with most traditional frying methods, so the potential risk to your health from eating high amounts of trans fats is greatly reduced. What Does an Air Fryer NOT Do?
While air frying is a perfect way to prepare your favorite fried foods while only using a small amount of oil, there are a few things it will not do. Certain fried foods that are batter- or liquid-based (like funnel cakes) require a full oil bath in order to cook externally and internally. While an air fryer is the perfect way to heat up any of your favorite fried foods, cooking battered foods will require a little extra preparation. Because batter tends to be runny, it may have trouble sticking to your food as it cooks in the air fryer. As a result, you will need to use recipes which are specifically designed for air fryers.
