Table of Contents
Introduction
In this section, we will guide you on which general ingredients you should keep close by when you are thinking about making some delicious condiments or marinades.
Obviously, some of the classic ingredients such as oil, vinegar, garlic, spices, and herbs should come to mind. But what kind of vinegar? What kind of oil? And what kind of herbs and spices should you focus on?
Vinegars
Of course, it depends on how you will use that vinegar. If you are intending to pickle some vegetables or fruits, you can rely on vinegar such as cider vinegar, wine vinegar, malt vinegar, distilled white vinegar. The distilled one is usually best to use as its acidity content is perfect for what needs to be accomplished. If you are looking to prepare a vinaigrette or marinade, the vinegar could be a balsamic one, or a red, or even white wine vinegar.
Oils
Olive oil is certainly the most popular oil on the market for the last decade or so. If you are going to prepare marinades, keep in mind, the oil will be needed. You can privilege olive oil but you could also use avocado oil, peanut oil, or sesame oil. Some recipes will showcase oil when pickling vegetables. In this case, we would recommend you to go with mustard oil or any of the oils listed above. Using oils will help avoid these pickled vegetables you love from spoiling too fast.
Herbs and spices
While we recommend fresh herbs to prepare any recipes, we understand that using the dried ones will be a reality at the time and it is quite alright. If you have a garden or grow a few fresh herbs at home, remember you can also dry them in the oven when you are blessed with an abundant quantity needed to be used. We suggest cilantro, parsley, basil, oregano, and thyme.
Always keep salt and pepper, sea salt, garlic salt, and a variety of peppers: white and black peppers, peppercorns, and cayenne pepper handy. I also highly suggest adding a mixture of Dried Italian herbs, dried mustard, sage, cumin, turmeric, cinnamon, and nutmeg in your pantry.
It is also smart to keep garlic, onions, Dijon mustard, chili sauce, or any additional sauces or ingredients you know you frequently need to prepare condiments, vinaigrettes, sauces at the last minute.
Lets stop talking about it and lets start preparing all those fabulous recipes included in this cookbook!
Delicious cinnamon apple butter
I think this is a must-make recipe during the fall season. Perhaps you went to an apple orchard and were able to handpick the apples you will use. If not, you must be able to buy some fresh and sweet apples from your local produce market. Either way, you will enjoy making this recipe for the whole family. Toasts and apple butter go together like peas and carrots! And flash news: this recipe contains no butter at all, perfect for low fats diet!

Remove the peel, seeds and core for each apple. Slice or cube small.
In a large saucepan, bring to boil the apple cider with lemon juice and cinnamon. Slowly add the brown sugar as you stir and reduce the heat to medium-low.
Add all apples, stir well and cover to cook for 30 minutes.
Once the apples are cooked all the way, remove from the heat.
When the mixture is cooled down. Place in the blender and activate until the mixture is nice and smooth, like butter ready to spread!
To store, make sure you keep it in the fridge, in an airtight glass container if you can.
Homemade sweet ketchup
You can make your ketchup sweet, spicy, chunky, smooth, with a tint of fruits or a tint of barbecue sauce. You can prepare it with or without sugar, depending on your diet restrictions. This recipe tends to be sweet and goes so well with Sheppard pies or even omelets and more.
