    I know you. Ive been in your shoes and in your too-tight clothes. I know how you feel about food and the constant struggle with weight. Heres my story.

    I began my weight-loss journey long before the age of 11. I was chubby as a kid in the 1950s when no one was overweight, or if they were, they were the rare exception. I often heard my mother say, Thats okay. When she turns 11, Im going to put her on a diet. In the meantime, there was ample access to goodiesmy mom baked cookies, brownies, and cupcakes (even Hostess cupcakes with the filling inside and the squiggle on top) twice a week and kept them in a Tupperware container by the back door as we went out to play. Whole milk was a staple in those days and was delivered directly to your door by the milkman. You could get ice cream delivered at the same time if you wanted. After the evening meal came dessert.
