A Brief History
Denis Papin is the one to get all the credit for inventing the very first pressure cooker in 1679.
He was a French physicist and his invention soon became a common household appliance. His invention made people realize that it takes way less fuel to cook the food using the pressure steam and it is a very convenient and fast cooking method to prepare various meals.
The Invention of Modern Pressure Cookers
The pressure cooker invented by Denis was a traditional stove-top model, while the very first electric pressure cooker was invented in 1991. However, there are several possible inventors who claim to hold the first to invent honors, with the most popular version being a Chinese scientist, Mr. Yong-Guang Wang. A common Electric Pressure Cooker includes an electric heating element, pressure-cooking container, and temperature/pressure sensors.
With a closed-loop cooking system, the electric pressure cookers function using the principle of generating some high pressure steam to cook the food at a very high temperature. They are designed to deliver automated cooking experience, where all you need to do is add the needed ingredients, lock the lid and let the pressure cooker do all the cooking for you. Different cooking functions were being invented such as simmering, rice cooking, slow cooking, warming, steaming, braising, stew, etc. with the use of different combinations of cooking pressure, temperature, and time duration. This has led to the invention of the most modern programmable multi-functional pressure cookers, such as Instant Pot.
Inner Pot
It is a removable part as you can use it to transfer the cooked meal to a container or directly to serving plates.
Inner Pot
It is a removable part as you can use it to transfer the cooked meal to a container or directly to serving plates.
Made from the stainless steel, it has copper or three-ply bottom surface to ensure the uniform heating.
Inner Heating Unit/Housing Unit
The heating unit primarily contains a control box, temperature & pressure sensors and the heating element. The housing unit is the core part of any Instant Pot, through which it controls the essential cooking functions like cooking cycles, heating and cooking time etc. with the help of its microprocessor. It helps to precisely cook the food in a perfect way. In case of any unsafe situation, it automatically cuts off the power or turns on the alarm sounds to ensure a completely safe cooking process.
You can cook various foods and meals using the pre-programmed cooking cycles by press just one program button.
Closing Lid
It comes with a gasket or the sealing ring. The Lid needs to be locked in the sealed position before cooking and it ensures an airtight space for the cooking to begin. If the lid is not locked properly, it would affect the pressure building process and thus become a dangerous way to cook your food. The Pressure cookers are equipped with a floating valve with a pin lock mechanism. They help in preventing accidental opening of the valves when the pressure is accumulated inside the pot.
