Joseph F. Gustin is a professional writer, consultant and noted speaker and lecturer, specializing in regulatory compliance.
With more than 20 years experience he has held various personnel and human - photo 3
With more than 20 years' experience, he has held various personnel and human resources management positions in both the public and private sectors. Mr. Gustin served as Director of Training and Development for a major multiunit healthcare system where he designed and developed all facets of personnel training for that organization's 5,000 employees. His experience as Manager of Training and Development for a leading financial institution included designing management development and supervisory training programs, as well as employee training programs.
As a consultant, Mr. Gustin provides human resources and regulatory compliance consulting services to corporate and institutional clients, focusing on compliance and human resources program planning.
As a writer, Mr. Gustin has co-authored various training and resource guides for professional, administrative and medical personnel. He is the author of Safety Management: A Guide For Facility Managers, a companion volume in the Facilities Management LibraryTM. Having served in various capacities as Executive, Managing and Contributing Editor of various management publications, he currently edits pre-publication manuscripts for individual clients.

As Public Education Officer, he addresses civic organizations, churches, schools, community groups, as well as hospitals, nursing homes, high rises and office buildings in the areas of fire prevention and education.
A 15-year veteran of the Cleveland Fire Department, he is cofounder of the Cleveland Fire SAVE-A-LIFE PROGRAM. Since the inception of this smoke detector program in 1992, fire fatalities in the City of Cleveland have dropped to a 50-year low.
The recipient of numerous awards for his efforts in fire prevention and educationincluding the National Fire Protection Association's LEARN NOT TO BURN SAFE CITIES CHAMPION AWARDLt. Parries is the recipient of the Rotary Club of Cleveland's RECOGNITION AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING ACCOMPLISHMENT IN COMMUNITY SERVICE.
Selected as a Community Hero Torchbearer for the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay, Lt. Parries carried the Olympic Torch in June 1996 as it journeyed through Cleveland, heading towards the Olympic Games in Atlanta.
