Acknowledgments
Thanks go to the superfood companies, big and small, farmers, and progressive-thinking health researchers in the United States and around the world who helped me understand how vital nutrient-dense foods are to our health and well-being.
Not to forget the open-minded medical doctors and nutritionists who understand some foods do deserve the label superfoodsespecially when there is proof that it goes beyond a label for marketing purpose. When scientific studies and anecdotal evidence from ancient times to the present day show food is natures medicine, its time to embrace superfoods for what they aresuper!
A heartfelt thanks goes to the Kensington Books team, who are behind me from the beginning to end of each Healing Powers book. I am grateful to pen the series, all because of a book on vinegar that finally found its sea legs. I never imagined it would lead to a second book on olive oila nice pairand then to chocolate, and on to a series. And I continue to create the book collection.
The Healing Powers of Superfoods is a gift to a health-nut author from California (a super agricultural state). To be given a ticket to write a book on nutrient-dense food from trees, plants, and the sea is exciting. For more than three decades, Ive been writing about health and wellness. Big thanks and hugs to followers of the series and readers of this book who are interested in natures favorite foods.

Superfood Resources: Where Can You Buy Superfoods?
The secret of success in life is to eat what you like and let the food fight it out inside.
M ARK T WAIN
As superfoods, especially the classic foods with a twenty-first-century healthful twist, are more popular for mainstream America and around the globe, people like you and me are willing to go the extra mile to find their favorites.
Superfoods such as dried fruits, nuts, seeds, and whole grains are in demand so they can be used and enjoyed year-round. Stored foods can be better than perishables (something to think about during winter months and if you dont want to waste fresh superfoods, which can spoil quickly if not used fast enough).
Here is a superfoods shopping list of my personal favorite go-to places. As times goes on, a variety of classic oldies and new upcoming superfoods may be game changers; however, most will still be readily available. You can find your all-natural, organic superfoods at supercenters like Whole Foods Markets and Trader Joes, farmers markets, cafes and restaurants, online stores, specialty shops, and health food stores (good for exotic superfoods such as nut butters, protein powders, sea vegetables, and seeds) around the nation and globe.
Dont be disappointed if some big companies merge with others as time passes or if smaller companies may be gone due to different reasons. But if that happens, simply try another similar company and experience the novelty, and you may be pleasantly surprised. Change is part of life, and superfoods are not excluded. If you discover your resource is AWOL or has added or deleted an ingredient in a superfood, think of it as a positive change (more times than not) in the world of Superfoodsland.

As of this writing, I find that manufacturers and retail outlets are gaining momentum and joining the super superfoods train, whereas, a book titled The Healing Powers of Superfoods is both timely and timeless. More manufacturers could be added to this book, but because of the growing demand and the new superfoods to choose from, it is impossible to include more established and upstart companies marketing such products.
