MEET YOUR GUIDES

Polly and Bill Cunningham are married partners in the long trail of life. Together they have guided wilderness trips in Montana, Utah, Alaska, and the Gila. During several seasons they outfitted and led extended backpacking trips in the Gila Wilderness under Forest Service permit through their guiding company, Wild Forever Adventures.

Polly, a former history teacher from St. Louis, has hiked and backpacked extensively throughout many parts of the country. Bill is a lifelong wildernuta conservation activist who worked for several conservation groups, including The Wilderness Society. Several years ago he and Polly retired from backpack outfitting and field studies teaching so as to have more time to hike in their favorite places, such as the Gila Wilderness. Bill has written several books and dozens of magazine articles about wilderness areas based on extensive on-the-ground knowledge. He is the author of Wild Montana,the first in Falcon Publishings series of guidebooks to wilderness and unprotected roadless areas.
