W HEN YOU DONT HAVE a great deal of confidence, its hard to advance in your life. Self-confidence and self-esteem are the two most important aspects of your life, because these dictate your level of happiness. If you fear interactions with people and this holds you back, you have come to the right place. This book was written with you in mind because people need to be able to hold their own in a competitive world such as that which we live in. I was once where you are and I know what its like to doubt your every move, to feel very little self-love and to try to keep up with whats happening in your life. Its really hard to overcome these internal pressures to keep up with external pressures, but it can be done and you may be surprised at the difference it makes to your life.

You see, the main thing is that it isnt about the world around you. Its about you. It starts inside you and thats the part that you need to work on. This book shows you how. All of the wishes and dreams that you hold dear are obtainable. All you need to do is focus upon who you are, how the world sees you and how you see yourself. Once you do, you will never doubt yourself again. The formation of character starts with learning how to interact with the world around you. As a child, you are taught to interact with other children and to share things with them. Unfortunately, as you get older, the competition ups the ante because you are also influenced by what society sees as norms. In fact, if advertising was accurate, the world would be filled with confident people who all had perfect figures, but thats really not what its all about. Its not about how rich you are or how many examinations you have passed. The only clue I will give you at this stage is that your reality begins and ends with the way that you see the world.

Stop being blinkered and holding yourself back. Stop being afraid of life, because you only get one chance at it. Over the chapters that lie ahead, we will discuss ways that you can gain confidence, how you gained it when you were a child and how you can carry on gaining confidence, so that you dont have to live in the shadows any more. Theres no need to fear the future. Theres no need to fear your interactions with the world around you. Once you can overcome that fear and find your own comfortable place to be, you will really shine and thats the intention of this book. There are so many competitive people out there that the shy are left behind these days and this book helps to even up the score, showing people with natural shyness how to gain confidence and interact with others in a way that they have always wanted to. Communication is key, but more important than that is attitude toward self and the way that you see your life. This book helps you to see it from the right perspective, so that you are no longer held back because of lack of confidence.

E VERY ONCE IN A WHILE , we are scared to speak up. Things happen within the course of a lifetime that leave us afraid of making mistakes. You need to look at this very logically. You may have low self-esteem but you also need to understand why this is. The way that we see ourselves largely depends upon the feedback that we get from others. Thoughtless comments during childhood can leave their mark for a very long time. If you are perpetually told that you are wrong or that you are useless, you begin to act useless because you believe thats what you are. Unfortunately, you havent seen the wider picture and the inferiority that you feel is because you have learned to fall out of love with who you are.

Fears come from not knowing how to react in any given circumstance, but if you look far enough back into your past, you will find that at one stage you were fearless. You did things that were astounding. How do I know? Because all human beings do. When they are babies, they look at the world and they imitate what they see. They start to move their faces in ways that are recognized by people. They get to know the difference between a smile and crying. They know that smiles mean happiness and tears mean unhappiness. They also learn a lot of new stuff that no one actually shows them how to do. Yes, an encouraging parent may be there to guide them, but a baby begins a toddler and starts to discover the freedom of standing on two feet instead of moving themselves around a room in crawling style. These are amazing activities and you learned them without much difficulty at all.
