Introduction

When I and those who are like me enter your life we appear like an angel. Everything we touch is made wonderful. A golden light shines from us, which you find captivating and enthralling. Our words sound like a heavenly orchestra, which is playing just for you. We show you such a perfect love. We wrap you in our arms and tell you how we will always protect you and shield you from the darkness. The world becomes a brighter and more wonderful place because of our arrival. Yet for all that we appear heaven sent we come from a far darker place and by the time you have experienced the denigration, the devaluation, the hurt and the misery you will refer to us by many names. Our behaviour towards you convinces you that we have possessed by demonic forces. Our actions seem driven by evil and hatred. Our agenda is foul, filled with vitriol and malice. You eventually (and it may take some considerable time for you to reach this) realise that although we appeared as angels, we are really the devils lieutenants.

We are narcissists. Our sole purpose is to walk this earth and gather fuel. At first this is done by extracting fuel of a positive nature from the love, admiration and praise that you will shower us in. This never proves enough and it is then that we turn to the harvesting of negative fuel. A supply of fuel that arises from anger, anguish, misery, upset and dejection. Wherever a bane emotion is to be had we will cause it to manifest and then drink deep of the fuel that flows from it. This quest for fuel is unending but it is the fuel that flows from the actions of hurtfulness and cruelty that give us the greatest power. In order to tap into these sources of negative fuel we must utilise several different tools and instruments to assist us. Some of these tools bring forth the fuel. Others are designed to prevent the loss of this fuel. Many types of people use these instruments of darkness but there is a set that is dedicated to the dark art of narcissism. Not every instrument that is available to our kind will be utilised by our kind but they are there nevertheless. We are always looking to add to this arsenal that we carry with us and it causes us considerable delight when we find a further tool that suits our malign purposes.

If you have become entangled with a narcissist you may recognise some of these instruments although you may not know precisely why the narcissist deploys them against you. Others you may be unaware of and it is only by reading this book that you realise what other malicious utensils are being applied to ruin your life and fulfil the narcissists quest for fuel. This journey through the tools that the narcissist uses, as explained by a narcissist, provides you with unparalleled insight and understanding as to what the narcissist does with these instruments and why. By gaining understanding about how these dark devices are used against you, you will be able to remain vigilant for their use, wise to their application and you may just be able to begin to avoid them or diminish their effect on you. I will explain each of these instruments in my customary direct style. You may not find it comfortable reading but then engaging with a narcissist is ultimately never a smooth ride is it?

Ready yourself for revelation and insight as I turn the key inside the lock, lift the lid and allow you to look upon these weapons of darkness. This is the medley of manipulative instruments that each narcissist has at his or her disposal. This is the Devils Toolkit.

Saw of Interruption

The Saw of Interruption is a device that is direct and cutting. It is used to cut you off when you are speaking or doing something. I must be the centre of your attention. I must be the star of the show. I am the sun and you are all the planets that revolve around me, basking in the life-giving radiance of my rays. Everything I say is important. Everything I do is interesting. I have been set on this earth to achieve, to lead and to amaze. This applies to all of my kind. Some of us will be famous entertainers, stars of screen and stage. Musicians, singers, actors and comedians who literally take centre stage in order to entertain the masses. Highlighted in that dazzling spotlight, they allow their talent to be witnessed by the world at large and in return they drown in a sea of admiration and attention. It is massively edifying. Sports stars, television presenters, politicians and celebrities are represented heavily amongst our kind. They are all demanding their time in the spotlight of attention. They entertain you. They inform you. They lead you. In return for these blessings you must give them attention and adulation. The captains of industry that are driving forward innovation, invention and progress. Those people who have taken on the mantle of huge responsibility to get the job done. To deliver those products and services so that you can eat and drink, be kept warm; be kept sheltered and be entertained by all that technology has to offer. I am referring to the CEOs of corporations, the chairmen of the board, the entrepreneurs and business angels. These people are drawn from our ranks and they make the world a better and more interesting place. They stand head and shoulders above you. They must be from our kind as otherwise the job would not get done. It is only our kind that can remain focussed on the end result. It is only us that are able to live with the maxim that the end always justifies the means. We are untroubled by the very things that hold back progress. Hindrances such as conscience, morals and remorse are of no concern to us. Those are things, which serve no purpose to our kind. We have been stripped of such feelings and in turn this frees us to achieve what must be done. We have a job and we deliver. You admire this single purpose vision. You are in awe of the driven nature by which we live our lives but in order to keep the world turning then this is what we must do. The members of our club hold these positions of leadership and responsibility for anyone else would not be able to fulfil the role as effectively.

The result of this is that what our kind has to say is worth listening to. By contrast, what you have to say is of no use or interest. The only time that you speak and we will listen is when you are providing us with our well-deserved praise and admiration. Our achievements and our superiority mean we are entitled to be admired, to be loved and to receive plaudit after plaudit. If you are not doing this then your words are pointless and they must be stopped. This is when we apply our Saw of Interruption. We wield it to shut you up in a vicious and sudden manner. There is no gentle admonishment or subtle coercion to bring about your silence. That is not applicable. What we want is for you to be quiet and for you to fall into silence straight away. Consequently, the Saw of Interruption is applied and with several swift-sawing actions we have silenced you.

By cutting off what you are saying we are also able to reinforce our superiority. We emphasise you are inferior to us because you have nothing worth saying. This sawing action results in you feeling belittled and worthless which accords with our overall design to keep reducing your sense of self-worth and your self-esteem. We do not want you feeling strong or capable. We want you weak and malleable so that our continued application of the tools from our toolkit yields the results that we want. Cutting you off when you are speaking is a very effective means of letting you (and any others who may be listening) that is in control. You are allowed to speak by our grace and if we deem what you are saying as unproductive, namely it is not giving us the fuel that we require then we shall cut you off. The indignant glare that you will provide also serves to fuel us as we drink deep of your emotive response to our cutting you off. Should you try and speak again when it is unnecessary then the saw can be wielded straight away with the minimum of fuss and preparation.
