Introduction
When you think sandwiches, you think bread, meats, condiments, and toppings. This seems easy enough! But wait, there is more to it.
There are so many different types of sauces and dressings to choose from. We will help you here and list a few: you can pick to spread on your cold sandwiches: ranch sauce, horseradish sauce, oil and fresh herbs, blue cheese dressing, BBQ sauce, sriracha sauce. You can also spread cream cheese, chipotle mayonnaise, garlic butter, pesto, guacamole, cranberry sauce. What else? Of course, you can also go very classic: mayonnaise, ketchup, chili sauce, mustard (Dijon, honey mustard, or yellow), or any other one you desire.
Whats next? Toppings? Of course, you can use lettuce, spinach, Coleslaw, or just red cabbage, shredded carrots, fresh tomatoes or sundried tomatoes, sliced avocados, minced fresh herbs, fresh onion (red, sweet, yellow), fried onions, croutons, pine nuts and more.
Next stop? Cheeses! Now the possibilities are almost infinite here too! Mozzarella cheese, Swiss cheese, pepper jack cheese, Cheddar cheese, American cheese, Feta cheese, Goat cheese, Parmesan cheese, goat cheese.
Hold up! Lets talk bread again: hoagie bread, bagels, Cuban bread, baguette or French bread, white Italian bread, sourdough bread, wheat bread, panini bread, and any other loaves of bread you want.
Finally, meats, poultry and fish, and other proteins: The sky is the limit there too! Choose from baloney, ham, turkey, roasted chicken, tuna in a can, salmon in the can, sardines, peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter, roast beef, oersted pork, pastramis, salami, pepperoni.
Alright, now you almost know it all, lets assemble some sandwiches for you and the whole family!
Tuna, Relish on Bread
There are a few brands and few types of tuna in the can. I notice if I choose to use tuna in oil, I add less mayonnaise in my mixture. After draining well, I may need to add a little more mayonnaise to make a smooth and moist mixture if it is in water. Either way, I will add relish to the mix. Now it can be dilled relish or sweet relish, you pick!
Serving size: 2
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Instructions:
1. Drain the tun really well.
2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the tuna, mayonnaise, relish, paprika, salt, celery seeds, and celery.
3. Spread the bread generously and slice it in half before serving.
4. Serve with chips, preferably homemade chips.
Cute Mini Sandwiches
Because they are supposed to be cute and colorful, we will concentrate on these two facts to prepare them. Cheese is orange, and lettuce is green, ham is pink and roast beef is brown. Tomatoes are red, but they make the sandwiches mushy, so I dont advise using them. These mini sandwiches need their crusts removed also.
Serving size: 6 - 12
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
12 slices of sandwich bread, white, and wheat so you can alternate colors
6 slices of cheese: orange Cheddar
6 slices of cheese white American cheese
Baby spinach leaves
Salami slices and pepperoni slices
Turkey, roast beef, and ham slices
Instructions:
1. You can pick all the meats you want or just one kind, and it does not matter! I would choose different and different cheeses because these cute mini sandwiches are too pretty to eat alone, and you want to have a variety for your friends and family.
2. Gather all the ingredients on the counter.
3. On the counter lay the 12 slices of bread.
4. On half of them spread mayonnaise, the other half mustard.
5. Lay the meats of your choice, pepperoni, salami, turkey, ham, roast beef, and more, followed by the cheeses and the spinach.
6. Mix up the cheeses, so you get the white and orange colors alternating on the sandwich platter.
7. Place the other half of slices of bread on top. Cut all the crusts. I always keep the crusts to bake at high temperatures and crumble to use as breadcrumbs later on.
8. Then, cut the sandwich into 4 cubes, add a toothpick and serve on a platter.
9. Also, sometimes I add olives, poking the toothpicks into them.
Wheat Bread and a Few Different Deli Meat
This sandwich is often referred to as ultimate when you order it at a deli counter. You are free to use the meats you prefer. Any combination is excellent if you will eat it! I enjoy turkey, roast pork, and ham. It reminds me of a Cuban sandwich filling as well. However, to keep it as healthy as possible, we will sue here what sandwich bread.
