Introduction

How do we deal with the mind and its delinquencies? Time often was that those that exhibited a delinquent mind found themselves carted away and institutionalised. There they would be subjected to misguided yet well-intentioned attempts to cure the individual of their aberrations and lack of normative behaviour. Isolation, the provision of rudimentary drugs and certain therapies such as electro-convulsive shock and immersion in ice cold baths were viewed as effective treatments. The treatment of such people has drastically changed now and whilst a stigma does remain with those who suffer from challenges to their mental health, great strides and improvements have been made.

What is a delinquent mind? Delinquency is regarded as failing in ones duties. Thus a delinquent mind may be regarded as one which fails in behaving in a way that it is expected to. It is a mind that is expected to operate within a range of behaviours that are regarded as normal by society. It is a mind that is expected to be rationale, caring, compassionate and considerate. It is a mind that is designed to conform to rules, obey laws and behave itself in accordance with the prescribed conventions of society. Some may describe such a mind as ordinary.

There is little doubt that others will stand in judgement of my kind and me and in doing so label us as delinquent in mind and therefore in deed and word. Of course my mind is far from delinquent for it discharges its duty magnificently and this is something on which I write in a chapter below. However, my kind and I are not judged by our own high standards but instead by the jealous and envious insecurities of those who believe that they are so entitled to do so. Instead we are given the label of behaving in a delinquent manner and judged from that viewpoint, lacking standing as it does, the term delinquent is appropriate.

Accordingly I have allowed you an opportunity to understand more of this delinquent and brilliant mind. This is not something that happens very often as for reasons which I explain below we do not allow others to read our intentions or our minds. That is not usually allowed to happen. On this occasion however you are being permitted a chance to delve into the way that my kind and I think. Those of you who have read other works of mine will know that by my kind and I, I mean narcissists. This book will enable you to understand more of the way that we think, behave and do in order to help you gain some kind of understanding as to what you may currently be embroiled in or what you have once experienced. I provide you with insight into a variety of subject matters which exhibit the way that we consider matters and the way that we act. These will show you how we regard you, why we act in the way we do concerning you and they will enable you to shine a light on our behaviour which hitherto you will have found mystifying, confusing and distressing.

Many of these chapters address the way that our minds work and thus will provide you with a hitherto unknown opportunity to gain a handle on why we think in the manner that we do. You will find it fascinating and perturbing in the way that we view the world in a different fashion to the way that you do. As ever, these insights are provided in my direct and jargon-free manner. This is the best way for you to gain an understanding about my kind and me. The lack of flowery explanations enables you to cut to the quick and really get to the heart, dark and savage though it may be, of why we think in the way that we do.

Accordingly, prepare to increase your understanding, prepare for some discomfort but most of all be prepared to delve into my delinquent mind.

A Brilliant Mind

My mind is brilliant. It is a masterpiece of intellect and memory. Most people have a mind that is prevented from achieving magnificence because it is spread too thin. The phrase jack of all trades and master of none is one that is certainly applicable here. Other people must use their minds to do their jobs, care for their children, operate a home, socialise with their friends and so forth. At the outset a mind is charged with absorbing knowledge about so many things. In an academic setting it is obliged to learn about mathematics, English, geography, history, physics and all the other subjects that pupils are forced to engage in. How can the mind become honed and sharpened when it is expected to demonstrate such elasticity. Who could function effectively when there is pushed and pulled in such a manner? Your minds are sent one way and the dragged in a different direction as you switch between so many differing and competing things. My mind is not like this.

My mind has been created to do one thing. It has been created to gather fuel. It exists for no other purpose. Everything else that happens is simply a by-product or collateral damage of the everlasting quest for fuel. Sometimes great things may happen as a consequence of what my kind and I do but that is just a happy coincidence. We never intended for that invention or that report to be made so that it would be brilliant in itself. No, we did it because we knew that it would provide us with fuel. This single-minded purpose for which our minds have been designed means that we are ultra-effective. Nothing else gets in the way as our mind channels all its energies to securing fuel. Our minds are engineered to be masters of manipulation and memory banks that store away the tiniest of details from way back to enable us to call on that fact or instance so that we may better discharge our obligation to find fuel. Every firing synapse inside our minds, every electric current that races across and through it has only one aim and that is to bring about fuel.

Why are machines so efficient? It is because they are designed with one purpose in mind. The washing machine will wash your clothes, the coffee maker will dispense a coffee for you and the television set will show your pictures and generate sound. You may suggest that a machine does several things but that is merely separate machines placed within a composite. Machines are not troubled by decisions as what to have to eat for dinner or where a new picture should be placed. They have one aim and they discharge it with sleek and admirable effectiveness. The mind of the narcissist is similarly designed. It is a triumph of engineering. It can carry out different tasks, naturally, but each of these has only one outcome. The outcome is the provision and securing of fuel.

Compare it to your mind. You may paint a marvellous picture as the artistic part of your mind applies itself to such a creation. You did that to exercise your artistic skills, to make you happy and perhaps to make someone else happy when you give or sell them that painting. You read a book to enjoy the content. You sing a song because it makes you feel uplifted. You cook a meal because you need to feed others. All of these applications of your mind achieve different outcomes but that is not the case with our minds.

We are superior and our superiority is based on the single application for which our minds have been created. It stands to reason that if you specialise in one thing and one thing alone you will be the best at it by far. That is what has happened with our minds. They are programmed to act with a single purpose and in doing so they achieve brilliance.

Triple Track

One of the key elements to my success in achieving my aims is through my brilliant mind. This is because my mind engages in something called triple tracking. This first arose when I was engaged in discussion with Dr O. For those of you who are not familiar with Dr O, she is the immaculately presented doctor charged with providing me with enlightenment about whom I am and why I do as I do. She is always pristine and I often reflect on how clean I imagine that she will taste. Dr O works with Dr E as well and I have been subjected to their repeated consultations and observations as we have developed our relationships. Accordingly, I was discussing with Dr O the issue of how I went about planning my harvesting of fuel.
